Next.js + Supabase: The Setup Nobody Tells You About

The happy path is quick. The production path needs careful boundaries between server clients, browser clients, policies, and migrations.

Production web app setup connecting frontend panels, database policies, auth boundaries, and migrations.

Supabase can move very fast, but only if you keep the boundaries clear. Browser clients are for user-scoped reads and writes. Server clients are for trusted operations. Service keys never belong in the browser.

Row Level Security is not decoration. Treat policies as part of your application code and test them the same way you test API behavior.

The setup that lasts includes typed database access, migration discipline, environment separation, and a small wrapper around client creation so auth state does not leak across requests.
